The mission of IBM Research Europe, in addition to pursuing cutting-edge research for the future of computing, is to cultivate close relationships with academic and industrial partners, be one of the premier places to work for world-class researchers, to promote women in IT and science, and to help drive Europe’s innovation agenda.

IBM has maintained a research laboratory in Europe since opening its first lab in 1956 in Zurich, Switzerland with additional labs opening more recently in Ireland and England. The IBM Research – Zurich lab is home to world-class scientists representing more than 45 nationalities. Cutting-edge research and outstanding scientific achievements—most remarkably two Nobel Prizes in 1986 and 1987—are associated with this lab. The spectrum of research activities ranges from exploratory and applied research in quantum systems, neuromorphic computing and nanoscience as the basis for future computing technology, to the cloud and AI systems, cognitive computing and industry solutions, cybersecurity, privacy and blockchain.

IBM leads WP4. Talent Program I - ESRs and WP5- Talent Program II- PMs to establish the talent programs for early-stage researchers and project managers, and will contribute to the other work packages. It will be specifically engaged in providing education on crypto anchor and blockchain implementation to generate trust.
