What is TrustEat about?

TrustEat Technical Workshop

May 11th-12th

On May 11th-12th partners from the TrustEat project gathered in person, at INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, Portugal, for the first time, to discuss in-depth how to connect INL sensors to the blockchain technology.

Partners from IBM Zurich and WUR visited us to share their experience, particularly in blockchain applied to the agri-food sector. This event was a good opportunity for INLers to materialise the knowledge share with IBM and WUR in the last year and a half and create new projects and connections. Many great ideas were shared on how to use INL sensors to provide information on the origin, quality and sustainability of agri-food products.

TrustEat project promotes the application of Blockchain technology to the food value chain to increase the reliability of a new food system. The project links the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory - INL (Portugal) with the leading international institutions Wageningen University and Research – WUR (Netherlands) and IBM Research (Switzerland).

Think Tank Forum

March 10th

On March 10th, INL received the first Think Tank Forum of the TrustEat project to discuss the main opportunities of the blockchain to the food value chain, its bottlenecks and actions to promote its use.

The members participating had different backgrounds (Portugal and Spain) and represented the different stakeholders in the food system, bringing new ideas and views about their business/companies.

Summer School 1st Edition

Aug 30th - Sept 3rd

We enjoyed holding the first Edition of the project Summer School from 30th August to 3rd September 2021. This TrustEat Summer School was an initiative inside the TrustEat project to gather Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) with state-of-the-art, first-hand knowledge from renowned experts of IBM and WUR in the fields of blockchain and agrifood. Blockchain is a new technology that will redefine, reshape and eventually transform how the food value chain works.

After our lessons learned, we give full access to the lectures

> Day 1 | 30th August | Basics

> Day 2 | 31st August | Application Layer

> Day 3 | 1st September | Digital Layer

> Day 4 | 2 nd September | Physical Layer

> Day 5 | 3 rd September | Networking Day

You can check the complete program here.

TrustEat Scientific lecture #1

May 25th | Application layer

How blockchain is being applied?

Check the first Scientific Lectures from the TrustEat project! First, we studied two cases: #Flori-chain and Nori. Flori-chain is an example in horticulture in which Blockchain is used for sharing information on the application of plant protection products through the supply chain. And Nori is the only carbon dioxide removal marketplace and a good example from the United States that uses Blockchain as a crowdfunding type of reward to farmers working on carbon sequestration.

TrustEat Scientific lecture #2

May 31st | physical layer

In this edition of TrustEat Scientific Lecture, IBM spoke about different digital and AI solutions applied to agriculture.

TrustEat Scientific lecture #3

June 2nd | digital layer
